Big-name tours from the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Guns N’ Roses and Justin Bieber have helped make local promoters among the Top 40 most profitable in the world.
That’s according to global concert industry trade publication Pollstar, which has released its global report on the first quarter of 2017.
In the last quarter, Frontier Touring was the 6th top promoter in the world for ticket sales (496,398 tickets sold), cashing in with tours from Justin Bieber and Bruce Springsteen & The E-Street Band. Springsteen also came in at #11 on the Top 100 Tours list with 261,184 tickets sold globally.
TEG Dainty came in 9th (341,511 tickets) on the Top Promoter list. Its major drawcard in Q1 was the local leg of Guns N’ Roses’Not In This Lifetime reunion tour, which sold 341,511 tickets worldwide and charted at #8 on the Top 100 Tours list.
Chugg Entertainment came in 39th (88,294 tickets). Its roster of tours in Q1 included Alexisonfire, the Dixie Chicks, UB40, and all Laneway Festival sideshows.
Live Nation topped the Top 50 Promoters list with 3,476,276 sold. Pollstar publishes worldwide figures only meaning Live N ation’s ticket sales cumulatively include those sold by Live Nation Australasia.
However, as reported by TIO last week, Bieber’s Australia and New Zealand tour alone grossed AU$8.2 million with 221,206 tickets sold; and Adele’s Australasian run sold over 600,000 tickets.
