Google is letting artists post directly into Search

During US elections last April, Google tested a program which allowed presidential candidates and other publishers to post messages directly through Google search results. Now, it’s letting artists do it.

The program allows artists to post directly on Google search, using text, images, video and even animated gifs.

The content appears instantly in search results related to the artist; meaning, Sia could hypothetically announce a tour via Google search, or Gorillaz could release their next music video or album art, complete with links to purchase.

“This enhanced format allows searchers to hear directly from the primary source — you — and complements existing results from across the web,” said Google in a statement. ” We’re continuing to experiment with other categories and regions, so stay tuned.”

Google is currently taking applications to be ‘verified’ at posts.withgoogle.com/au.

For now, applications are open to artists, museums, sports teams, sports leagues and movies in Brazil, and museums, sports teams, sports leagues and movies in the US.

“We’re continuing to experiment with other categories and regions, so stay tuned,” said Google.
