Songwriters, it’s time to turn setlists into royalties

Songwriters, it’s time to turn setlists into royalties

Aussie songwriters, now is your chance to make some dosh for doing what you love. It’s Performance Reports season at APRA AMCOS, and you have until July 31st to submit your work.

Last year, APRA paid over $7 million in live performance royalties to a record 17,499 members who submitted Performance Reports for their gigs. Whether touring is your main source of income, or your rodeo is more of an occasional open mic night stint at your local watering hole— you’re all entitled to reap the benefits of your hard work.

To submit your work you simply need to log into your APRA AMCOS account and submit the details of your performances from the last 12 months.

To help songwriters wrap their heads around the process, APRAAMCOS will be holding open days at its offices around the country, with staff handy to guide you through the submission process. Check out the Performance Reports drop-in days below.

‘Strangers’ artist Tia Gostelow is just one of the many incredible Australian musos that have benefited from submitting their gig reports. “As an independent artist, the live performance royalties really help to contribute towards being able to make and release new music,” shared Gostelow.

Brisbane songwriter, solo artist, frontman of Velociraptor and all-round legend, Jeremy Neale believes performance reports to be a crucial part of the music ecosystem.

“You deserve nice things. That’s just science,” he shared. “Performance Reports help you get real-world money in exchange for the real world admin of you submitting setlists from your shows throughout the year.”
