US hip-hop artist Travis Scott has just given a major shout out to a couple of Aussie artists, hand-picking their music to be featured on the soundtrack to the upcoming NBA 2K19 video game.
Travis Scott is undoubtedly having a very good week. Following the release of his latest album, Astroworld, earlier this month, the record managed to hit #1 on the ARIA charts over the weekend, before topping the Billboard charts soon after.
Following an eventful day yesterday which saw the artist handing out shares of $100k to his loyal Twitter followers, Travis Scott has now been announced as the executive producer for the NBA 2K19 video game soundtrack.
As Variety notes, Scott was announced as the soundtrack’s curator earlier today ahead of the game’s release next month. To promote the soundtrack, a video was released featuring the rapper being interviewed by the Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James – who also happens to be the cover star of the game’s ‘Anniversary Edition’.
“It’s an honour,” explained Travis Scott of being given the role of picking the game’s music. “It’s dope, I always like the chance to be able to curate music.”
When asked about what sort of ‘zone’ he was in while creating his latest album and picking these songs, Scott explained he was in the zone of “greatness”. “I kind of just wanted to curate the best music and give my city a sound,” he explained.
