BTS makes history on U.S. charts, Aussies flex in the U.K.

BTS are back to their record-busting best as the K-pop stars bag seven entries on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, all from their new, chart topping album BE (Big Hit Entertainment).

It’s an historic haul for a Korean act, and it’s led by ‘Life Goes On,’ which leads the U.S. singles chart, the pop group’s third No. 1.

‘Life Goes On’ becomes the first Hot 100 No. 1 in the chart’s 62-year history sung predominantly in Korean, according to Billboard.

This week, the album BE rules the Billboard 200 albums chart in the United States, the fifth time the septet has done so.

BE opens at No. 2 in the U.K. and Australia, and has an Aussie connection: The track ‘Fly To My Room’ was produced and co-written by Sydney electronic duo Cosmo’s Midnight.

Meanwhile, there a strong Aussie presence on the latest Official U.K. Albums Chart, with no less than five LPs from the land Down Under making their mark in the Top 40.

On the new U.K. survey, AC/DC’s Power Up (Columbia) slips 1-3, while records from fellow ARIA Hall of Famers Kylie Minogue (Disco via BMG, down 5-10) and Nick Cave (Idiot Prayer via Bad Seed, new at No. 18) impact the Top 20.

A little further down the list is Tim Minchin’s debut studio album Apart Together (BMG), new at No. 27, while ARIA Award-nominated rapper The Kid LAROI’s F**k Love (Columbia), dips 19-33.

Based on midweek data, AC/DC and Kylie’s latest, chart-topping albums are still hanging inside the U.K. Top 10.
