The Easybeats ‘Absolute Anthology’ collects five blistering years of music

Absolute Anthology 1965 – 1969 is a masterclass in songwriting and execution.

42 classics tracks written and recorded in five brief years; this is one of the most storied songbooks in the history of music.

There were already plans for a huge roll out of Easybeats material prior to George Young’s death, but in the wake of his passing, these songs showcase what a true loss the Australian and international music community felt.

This compilation was actually first released in 1980, collected by Glenn A. Baker. The album was re-released in 1986 on CD but had long been out of print, until this version – freshly remastered by studio genius Don Bartley.

Fans and newcomers both will find a lot to absorb in this collection. The quality ranges — some of these are demos, and songs the band initially chose not to release — but the entire collection is best enjoyed from start to finish, as you marvel at how quickly and wonderfully they evolved in just half a decade.

As we know, this was only the very beginning.
