As one of the world’s most popular musicians, it can be tough to keep up with the constant stream of news surrounding Ed Sheeran’s colourful life.
It seems as though the Icelandic newspaper, Morgunblaðið, may be jumping to extremes when it comes alerting the ever-hungry world for Sheeran related news, accidentally reporting that the ‘Shape Of You’ trailblazer had passed away.
The paper mistakingly used a photo of Sheeran, published next to an obituary for an 82-year-old mechanic called Svavari Gunnari Sigurðsson. Icelandic fans were quick to pick up on the mistake, taking to Twitter to point out the error.
One Twitter user, @oskpeturs wrote, “This obituary appeared in today’s @morgunbladid (Icelandic newspaper) I think someone might be getting fired today. #rip.”
Hate to break it to u but Ed Sheeran is dead. It also turns out he is a 82 year old Icelandic man called Svavar. Ed Sheeran was apperantly only his stage name…. #ripsvavarsheeran pic.twitter.com/gxXuccmU2h

Morgunblaðið or Sheeran are yet to comment on the error. This isn’t the first time Sheeran has had troubles with Iceland, with the singer revealing that during his trip to the Northern Lights last year, he stepped in a mountain geyser that melted the skin off his foot. Ouch.
In other Sheeran related news, an Aussie tourist has landed in jail for using fake tickets to Ed Sheeran’s recent Singapore concert.
