EMC 2019 announces conference dates, applications to showcase are now open

For the 8th year in a row, the mastermind behind Australia’s seminal electronic music conference, EMC, has announced plans to once again put on display a wealth of knowledge, experience and talent. EMC 2019 has today been announced and with it comes an opportunity for the next crop of electronic Australian artists to shine.

As the premium event of its kind in the Asia Pacific region, EMC leaves no stone unturned as it curates panels and parties aimed at exposing the world class talent within our electronic industry and showcasing it in front of an audience of national, and international booking and industry figures.

Over the course of 5 days in in November, EMC will cater to all the senses with music, parties, showcases, films and more. Conferences speakers selected to feature at this year’s event will be announced in the coming weeks.

EMC is also openly courting the next wave of Australia’s electronic talent. Applications are now open for your chance to feature as one of the 16 artists picked for EMC LIVE. Organisers are seeking applications from “any live performer on stage, solo or otherwise – and this includes DJs.”

Other than having the opportunity to flex your skills in front of the industry powers that be, successful applicants for EMC LIVE 2019 will also receive a $500 bursary.

Jane Slingo, Executive Producer of EMC says:

“Artists are at the core of events like EMC. The artists showcasing are essential to the positive experience of EMC’s delegates and EMC LIVE attendees, and discovering new artists is a significant part of why international bookers and industry influencers invest their time in attending events like EMC.

“This bursary eases the financial pressures for artists – it may contribute to flights or accommodation for a band, or an artist adding in a special production element that is integral to the delivery of their performance.”

In addition, EMC LIVE curator Dave Ruby Howe says:

“I was personally very stoked with the applications that came through to perform at EMC in 2018, representing the brightest up and comers in the country who’re now cementing themselves on the scene. 2019 is set to be another great year as we know that Australia is such a creative hotbed when it comes to emerging artists from across the electronic spectrum.

“More than ever, it feels like there’s more great music being made but there’s an increasing competitiveness to have your music heard currently – with EMC we’ll get to give the best new dance and electronic musicians a chance to show their wares live and get a leg up to the next stage of their careers.”

EMC 2019 is made possible by Australia Council for the Arts, Create NSW, City of Sydney, MusicNSW, Muzeek, Roland and TAME. You can sign up now to receive all upcoming announcements.
