Guy Sebastian to host 2019 ARIA awards

Guy Sebastian will host the 33rd ARIA awards ceremony on the 27th of November. Having won 4 ARIA awards from 27 nominations, Sebastian is no stranger to the Australian music industry’s night of nights. However, this will be his first time hosting the evening’s proceedings.

“I am so pumped and honoured to be hosting the 2019 ARIA Awards,” Sebastian said.

“The Australian music industry is so diverse and I can’t wait to celebrate with you all as we unite to recognise and celebrate how much talent we have to offer the world.”

A brilliant career

The announcement adds another line to Sebastian’s already impressive performance CV. As one of Australia’s best-loved performers, Sebastian has enjoyed popular acclaim as a judge on both The X Factor and The Voice. He also won the inaugural series of Australian Idol in 2003 and placed fifth in the 2015 Eurovision Song contest.

Earlier this year, Sebastian earned an Order of Australia medal for his services to the arts and the community.

It was his enduring musical career that prompted ARIA to select Sebastian as the host for the 2019 award ceremony. ARIA Chief Executive, Dan Rosen, said the association is “honoured and excited to have Guy Sebastian as our host for the 2019 ARIA Awards.”

“He is one of Australia’s most talented artists,” Rosen said, “and has had an incredible last 12 months.”

Indeed, Sebastian’s 2019 keeps getting bigger, with the singer having already enjoyed critical and commercial success with the release of his latest single, “Choir”

The news also comes just days before Sebastian concludes his Ridin With You national tour. After performing sold-out concerts around the country, Sebastian will play two Sydney shows to round out another successful tour.

Stay tuned for more ARIA announcements, including nominees and performances, in the lead-up to 27th November.
