Live entertainment legend Harvey Lister, Chairman and CEO of ASM Global (Asia Pacific), has been appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list 2021.

Brisbane-based Lister is recognised for his significant service to the arts, tourism, sport and to the venue management and events industries, in a career spanning more than 50 years.

“I would like to express my thanks to the many people who have been there throughout my career for their generosity, loyalty and camaraderie,” comments Lister in a statement. “I also wish to pay tribute to the 5,000 employees of our Australian ASM Global family, for the work they do and the role they play in the success of our many venues.”

Lister was a key figure in the 2019 merger of AEG Facilities and SMG, two of the world’s leading venue management and services companies, in a “game changer” deal for the live industry, he said at that time.

Today, Lister is responsible for overseeing ASM Global’s portfolio in Australia, New Zealand, India, Asia and the Middle East.

Prior to the merger, he served as Chairman and CEO of AEG Ogden, which managed convention and exhibition centres in Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin, Kuala Lumpur, Oman, and ICC Sydney; indoor entertainment arenas including Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena, Brisbane Entertainment Centre and adjacent Sports Centre, the Newcastle Entertainment Centre, RAC Arena in Perth, and Dubai Arena; and Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.

Lister also put forward the new Brisbane Live arena and entertainment precinct, which may yet receive the green light, following the IOC’s decision to approve Brisbane as host city for the 2032 Olympic Games.

Kotzas is recognised for his significant service to the performing arts as an administrator and artistic director.

Meanwhile, in the U.K., IFPI Chief Executive Frances Moore has been awarded an MBE.

Moore, who has served as CEO of the international trade body since July 2010, is recognised for her services to the music industry in the list, published June 11.

“I am really pleased that the role of the recording industry and its contribution to our culture and economy has been recognised and honoured in this way,” she comments in a statement.
