Following the inaugural Live and Local event last month in Paramatta last month, the Live Music Office, APRA AMCOS and City of Parramatta Council have begun rolling out their latest project to boost Parramatta’s live music scene.

Over the next 12 months, ‘Amplify’ will team businesses with musicians to drive patronage with live music offerings and give local acts paid performance opportunities.

Parramatta MP Julie Owens said: “There are an extraordinary number of gifted musicians in Parramatta. If we pull together as a community, we can overcome the challenges of identifying talent and connecting people to paid opportunities, and really empower the local music scene.”

The program will also provide:

  • A step-by-step process for local businesses to engage musicians
  • Education on the value of providing live music as part of their business offer
  • Best-practice advice on ticketing, marketing and promotion, licensing, organisation of equipment, and sound and staging options within their venues.

‘Amplify’ follows Live and Local Parramatta, the first of a number of initiatives designed in partnership between the Live Music Office, APRA AMCOS and City of Parramatta Council. to help establish a thriving local music culture. The event late last month saw 40 Western Sydney artists perform across 18 venues in the Parramatta CBD including hair salons, bridal boutiques, restaurants, cafes and pubs.
