Two Aussie acts are flying the flag high in the U.S. Top 10

With a little remix magic, high-profile TV performances and some old-fashioned planetary alignment, Masked Wolf and The Kid LAROI are delivering career highs right now on the U.S. singles chart.

In a rare moment for Aussie acts, Masked Wolf (real name Harry Michael) and The Kid LAROI (real name Charlton Howard) both crack the Top 10 on the latest Billboard Hot 100.

The Wolfpack is in a frenzy for ‘Astronaut In The Ocean,’ which lifts 8-7 for its equal peak on the Hot 100, which blends all-genre U.S. streaming, radio airplay and sales data.

Wolf also bites off another No. 1, as the viral song goes to No. 1 on Digital Song Sales chart, improving 2-1.

The hip-hopper recently ruled the Top 10 on the Billboard Emerging Artists chart and snagged Billboard Magazine’s monthly Chartbreaker profile.

Fellow Sydneysider The Kid LAROI sees ‘Without You’ fire into the U.S. Top 10 for the first time, blasting from its previous best of No. 23 to No. 8.

The Kid’s hit pulls 12.5 million streams (up 54%) and 7,600 sales (up 218%) in the week ending May 6, according to Billboard, earning the teenager the Hot 100’s top Streaming and Sales Gainer badge.

‘Without You’ also explodes 50-5 on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales, for its first week in the Top 10; lifts 13-6 on the Radio Songs tally; and re-enters the Streaming Songs survey at No. 21, also a new high.

LAROI already has a Top 10 on Billboard Hot 100 to his name, thanks to his assist on ‘Hate the Other Side,’ by his late mentor Juice WRLD and Marshmello, and featuring Polo G.

The track debuted and peaked at No. 10 in July 2020. ‘Without You’ is his first appearance in the Top 10 as a solo artist.

The success of both tracks in the world’s biggest music market have a lot in common.

‘Astronaut In The Ocean’ benefits from Masked Wolf’s debut TV performance last month on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the release of a special new cut with G-Eazy and DDG, and an official remix by Brazilian producer Alok.

‘Astronaut In The Ocean’ has already amassed over 500 million streams to date, hit No. 1 in six countries and surged to No. 1 on the Global Shazam chart.

The Kid’s ‘Without You’ is on fire right now after Miley Cyrus jumped on a remix. The pair performed the new version on NBC’s Saturday Night Live last weekend, and were introduced on stage by guest host and world’s-richest-man Elon Musk.

‘Without You’ this week climbs the mountain that is the ARIA Singles Chart, arriving at the summit for the first time in its 22nd week.

The Kid now has a singles and albums crown in the space of just three months.
