Natalie Imbruglia’s Firebird is soaring high on the midweek U.K. chart.

The veteran Australian pop singer’s new album, her first through a new deal with BMG (and first since becoming a mum), is perched at No. 4 on the Official Chart Update.

If it maintains altitude, Firebird will give Imbruglia her fourth U.K. Top 10 and her highest chart position since 2005’s Counting Down The Days went to No. 1.

Currently, Firebird is flanked by Drake’s former leader Certified Lover Boy and Olivia Rodrigo’s hit debut Sour.

The ‘Torn’ singer signed with BMG in 2019, and intended to release her album in 2020, but the pandemic changed those plans.

Firebird is Imbruglia’s sixth studio album. A former star on Neighbours, her career took flight in 1997 with that cover of Ednaswap’s ‘Torn,’ and her debut album Left of The Middle, which hit No. 1 on the ARIA chart and No. 5 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart.

To date, Left of The Middle has sold more than seven million copies worldwide.

Another Aussie act, Pnau, is making its presence felt on the midweek U.K. singles chart.

‘Cold Heart,’ performed by Elton John and Dua Lipa, is sitting at an all-time high of No. 2 on the Official Chart Update, behind only Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shivers.’

Elton’s latest is a mashup of his classic songs, remixed by Pnau, the Sydney trio of Peter Mayes and brothers Nick and Sam Littlemore.

The Rocket Man and Pnau have made beautiful music before. Their collaborative 2012 album Good Morning to the Night went all the way to the top in the U.K.

The weekly U.K. singles and albums charts are published late Friday.
