Odette inks global management deal

Odette inks global management deal

Sydney artist Odette (AKA Georgia Sallybanks) has inked a worldwide management deal with boutique Melbourne-based firm Hutch Collective.

Represented by Hutch’s Josh Milgate and Larissa Jane Ryan (Wamba Wamba), Odette will join a roster featuring Didirri, Kat Edwards and Ro.

“I’m so excited to announce my signing with Hutch Collective,” said Odette. “After a beautiful, formative and career-establishing eight years with FGP (Fingerless Glove Projects), I’m moving into the next year honouring my foundations and diving into the deep end of the creative unknown.

“Josh and Larissa are fiery, powerful and emboldened people and I am ecstatic to be embarking on this journey with them.”

Josh Milgate said of the signing: “I’ve been a fan of Odette since her debut record To A Stranger and it is an absolute pleasure to be adding her to our artist roster. Georgia’s beat-poet-esque lyricism was the first thing that drew me in and her ability to really stretch a concept to its fullest extent and then also boil it down to its absolute core is such a beautiful thing to watch.”

Hutch Collective’s Larissa Jane Ryan and Josh Milgate celebrate new management contract with Odette over Zoom.

Larissa Jane Ryan said Odette’s talent and passion is “undeniable”.

“We are delighted to be working with her and the incredible team at EMI and Universal Music Publishing. Odette is a bold heroine and I can’t wait for the world to get to know her better through her vivacious new music,” she said.

“It’s surreal that aside from a brief introduction at an Aria Afterparty, the entire process has been through instant messages and video calls. Even our first time watching her perform live was a virtual show! Odette is a dynamite talent and working with her so far has been a welcome highlight of my lockdown lifestyle. I look forward to our first coffee in 2021!”

Odette’s team now includes Hutch Collective, EMI and Universal Music Publishing, Select Music (for Aus bookings) and Paradigm Talent Agency (for US bookings).

Mark Holland from EMI Australia said:

“Welcome aboard Hutch Collective! We already love what you do and have admired your artists from afar,” Holland said. “As we move into the next phase with Odette, it’s great to have a newly formed bond with Larissa and Josh as part of her management team – 66.66% of which Odette hasn’t even had the chance / been able to meet in person yet due to this peculiar time with pandemics and border closures. At least we’re all very well versed in phone calls, Zooms, Whatsapp and text threads.”

Odette will release her first taste of new music next week.

Hutch Collective was founded in 2016, was formed in an inflatable swimming pool by Larissa Jane Ryan, Josh Milgate and Peter Elisha Hume.

“That’s what happens when an ex-teenage rocker, a design graduate, and a music graduate live together,” said the directors.
