Rolling Stone Australia announces nominees for 2021 Awards
Rolling Stone Australia is set to host a celebration of local music this March when it presents its Awards night at The Argyle in Sydney. Today, it reveals the full list of nominees.
Set to be an invitation-only night of “live music, unlimited drinks and a celebration of Australia’s incredible music” on March 31, the Awards is sponsored by Sailor Jerry as its principle partner, along with MINI, JMC Academy, Canna, Cash Converters and Yamaha.
Following a nominations process which saw subscribers to The Industry Observer have their say across four of the five awards categories, today’s announcement reveals nominees for Best Record, Best Single, Best New Artist, Rolling Stone Global Award, and the Rolling Stone Reader’s Award.
Perth’s Tame Impala received the most nominations with three. The ARIA winners are up for Best Record for their fourth album The Slow Rush, as well as the Rolling Stone Global Award, and the Rolling Stone Reader’s Award.
Indie-pop artist E^ST, genre chameleon Tkay Maidza, sibling duo Lime Cordiale, global pop icon Sia, hip-hop export The Kid LAROI, and March magazine cover star Tash Sultana, all have two nominations each.

As for the next round of judging, Best Record, Best Single and Best New Artist will be judged by a panel appointed by Rolling Stone Australia. Meanwhile, the Rolling Stone Global Award will be judged by Rolling Stone’s global staff members.
The Rolling Stone Reader’s Award nominees will be decided on by Rolling Stone Australia’s magazine subscribers, with official voting opening on Friday. Additional to determining an award winner, Rolling Stone Australia subscribers who vote are given the chance to attend the awards ceremony in Sydney.
