Sia now has more YouTube videos with a billion views than any other female artist

Australia’s own Sia is now one of the most successful female artists on YouTube, with more videos with a billion views than any other female artist.

Back in December of 2012, the world of music watched on in excitement as Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’ became the first video to pass the billion-view mark on YouTube.

A veritable milestone in music video history, it took a surprisingly-long time for another artist to reach such a height, with Justin Bieber’s ‘Baby’ surpassing a billion views in June of 2015. Within four months though, ten videos had hit the milestone, and this number soon continued to climb.

While the list of most-viewed music videos is pretty skewed towards not only songs from the last decade, but also songs by male artists, Sia has now managed to claim her crown as the queen of the billion-view club.

As Hypebot notes, Sia recently saw her fifth music video surpass a billion views, meaning she now has more videos with a seven-figure view count than any other female artist.

While 2013’s ‘Elastic Heart’ was her latest video to reach a billion, this joins the likes of ‘Chandelier,’ ‘Cheap Thrills,’ ‘Titanium’ (with David Guetta), and Rihanna’s ‘Diamonds’, which was written by the Adelaide-born musician.

In related news, Sia isn’t the only artist to tick off a view-related milestone, with Post Malone entering the billion-view club with ‘Congratulations’, which was released back in January of 2017.

While it’s still got a ways to go before it beats Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s ‘Despactio’ (currently at over six billion views), there’s a good chance that if anyone was going to beat that record, it will either be Post Malone, or possibly Sia. Only time will tell.
