Paramatta’s 2022 festival and industry gathering is taking shape, with a week-long lineup of live entertainment booked-in, and a stack of speakers confirmed for its two-day powwow.

The schedule is building, but not set in concrete.

Right now, Sound West’s producers are lobbing an “opportunity for Sydney promoters,” with an opening for the Live Music Events program.

Sound West, a not-for-profit, is seeking Expressions of Interest from partners to curate and present “professionally executed events, activations and experiences” as part of the inaugural Sound West program.

A successful applicant would receive the following benefits from Sound West:
● Inclusion in the Sound West Program
● Dedicated Sound West PR and Marketing function on promoting the event as a “Hero” event of the Sound West program
● Access to discounted venue hire at a range of venues within the Parramatta LGA region
● A contribution of $25,000 (ex GST) towards funding event production, artist fees, venue hire and marketing costs

L-FRESH The Lion

Applicants aren’t limited to hosting gigs. Partners may include music and Entertainment venues; promoters; arts and cultural organisations; and businesses, including hospitality companies, restaurants, hotels and bars

The inaugural Sound West festival will take place in the City of Parramatta from Wednesday 30th March to Sunday 3rd April 2022.

Announced last week by The Hon. Stuart Ayres, Minister for Tourism and Western Sydney with The Hon. Dr Geoffrey Lee, Minister for Skills and Tertiary Education and ARIA nominated hip-hop artist L-FRESH The LION, the event will pull the brain trust of Australian music and concerts industries alongside tech innovation.

Speakers include Dylan Alcott to discuss his Ability-Fest, said to be the world’s most accessible music festival; L-FRESH The Lion, who will collaborate with APRA AMCOS on a variety of Western Sydney songwriter initiatives; and producer Khaled Rohaim, who will discuss his journey producing music from his Western Sydney studio for some of the world’s biggest artists including Rihanna, Ty Dollar $ign, and Australia’s own The Kid LAROI.
