The Kid Laroi joins elite as ‘F*ck Love’ hits No. 1 in U.S.

The Kid Laroi claims top spot of the U.S. albums chart, a feat that makes him a record-setter several times over.

A tick over a year since he dropped his evolving mixtape F*ck Love, the record lifts 26-1 on the Billboard 200 for its first week at the summit.

The Kid is the first Australian act to be No. 1 since AC/DC ruled the survey last November with Power Up, and he’s the first solo Australian to get there since Sia debuted at No. 1 in July 2014 with 1000 Forms of Fear.

The last male Australian to hit No. 1 was Keith Urban, when he lit Fuse back in September 2013.

And he’s the first indigenous male Australian solo artist to do so.

According to Billboard, the 17-year-old LAROI (real name Charlton Kenneth Jeffrey Howard) is the youngest artist to reach No. 1 since April 13, 2019, when Billie Eilish was 17 years and three months old when When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? debuted at No. 1.

Also, he’s the youngest solo male artist to reign since 2015, when a then-16-year-old Shawn Mendes hit No. 1 with Handwritten.

F*ck Love goes to the top following the release of a third edition, titled Over You.

The set’s tracklist now stretches to 35, and includes ‘Stay,’ Laroi’s collaboration with Justin Bieber that’s currently No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 chart.

Earlier this year, the Los Angeles-based singer and rapper ruled Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs and Hot Alternative Songs charts; he clinched the ARIA Albums Chart title, becoming the youngest ever solo Australian artist to do so; and he became the youngest winner at the 2021 APRA Music Awards, scooping Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year.

He’s not due to turn 18 until August 17.
