With a swag of awards, No. 1s and the promise of more to come, The Kid LAROI truly matured into a global superstar in 2021.

The Sydney-raised singer and rapper bagged a No. 1 in the U.S., Australia and on the Billboard Global charts with ‘Stay,’ his collaboration with Justin Bieber.

Based on data published this week by the U.K.’s official chart compiler, ‘Stay’ was also a huge hit with Brits in 2021.

The track comes in at No. 7 on the Official Charts Company’s year-end Top 40, ahead of Glass Animals’ triple j Hottest 100 champion ‘Heat Waves,’ The Weeknd’s ‘Blinding Lights’ and Tion Wayne & Russ Millions’ ‘Body,’ respectively.

Further down the year-end list, another track from the Kid’s evolving F**k Love mixtape, ‘Without You,’ drops in No. 15, ahead of hits by Tiesto, Ed Sheeran and others.

Meanwhile, F**k Love is the only recording by an Australian artist to crack the U.K.’s Top 40 biggest albums chart for the calendar year, coming in at No. 25, just ahead of Billie Eilish’s ‘Happier Than Ever.’

LAROI (real name Charlton Howard) will get a chance for more silverware at the 2022 Grammy Awards, where he’s up for Best New Artist.

Another Sydney act makes an impression on the national Top 40 singles chart: Pnau’s remix of Elton John and Dua Lip’s ‘Cold Heart,’ was the 24th biggest single in the U.K., based on sales and streaming data retrieved daily from more than 6,500 retailers.

In a recent interview with TIO, Pnau founding member Nick Littlemore confirmed there’s more where that came from.

“We ended up making 12-14 songs. One of which is ‘Cold Heart,’ the only one that has come out to date,” he explained

Tones And I’s ‘Dance Monkey’ was a monster hit in the U.K., where it led the weekly chart for 11 cycles following its release in 2019, an all-time record for a solo female artist.

The upbeat number shows real staying power, appearing at No. 38 on the 2021 year-end tally.

‘Dance Monkey’ was ranked No. 2 in 2020, behind The Weeknd’s ‘Blinding Lights,’ and No. 8 on the 2019 list.
