The Push reveals first 5 artists signed to Push Records

Youth music organisation The Push have unveiled the first five artists signed to their Push Records label roster.

Jim, Private Mountain, Espresso Depresso, Benjamin Trillado and Madi Leeds have all joined the ranks over at the Melbourne-based label.

Presented in partnership with the Australian Independent Record Labels Association (AIR), Push Records is a label that is being delivered as part of Creative Victoria’s Victorian Music Industry Recovery program.

The six-month learning program will provide both industry and artist participants with the opportunity to be mentored by record label professionals as well as other artists, recording engineers and producers.

Throughout the program, participants will also gain practical experience and establish networks within the industry.

On top of that, 30 people aged 16-25 will lead the planning and development of an individual release campaign for each of the five artists as they debut a new single and music video.

The team of young people will be provided with expert advice on things like visual design and branding, photography, video production, label management, distribution, media and communications, audio engineering and artist development.

Among the five artists is Espresso Depresso, an artist hailing from the small town of Yackandandah in northeast Victoria.

Meanwhile, Naarm based band Private Mountain has been described as a mix between Ball Park Music and Slowdive, and Madi Leeds is providing a unique take on the indie-pop genre.

It seems safe to say the artists are in good company, given Aussie music mainstays like Courtney Barnett, Alex Lahey, Alice Ivy and Angie McMahon are among The Push’s alumni.

Those who are keen to follow along with the artists’ journey can head to @thepushinc on Instagram or to thepush.com.au to find out more about the program.
