Sony Music Australia’s Tim Pithouse lands top role at The Orchard

Sony Music Australia’s Tim Pithouse lands top role at The Orchard

The Sony Music-owned distributor and label services company, The Orchard, has tapped Australia’s very own Tim Pithouse to head up a new division for independent artists.

Moving over from his role as General Manager, International Marketing and Artist Development at Sony Music Australia, Pithouse becomes The Orchard’s Global Head of Artist & Label Services.

Making it official on Thursday November 1 and basing himself in New York, Pithouse will head up the division which offers Orchard-affiliated independent artists and labels an enhanced set of global services.

The announcement notes Pithouse will: “leverage his expertise in developing and marketing artists internationally to collaborate closely with creators, set release goals, and execute impactful sales and marketing campaigns across The Orchard’s global network.”

Pithouse will report to Brad Navin, CEO of The Orchard.

Tim Pithouse said in a statement:

“I look forward to working with the many skilled executives at The Orchard around the world to build a fantastic new artist-focused division that further expands the company’s global service offerings.

“My focus is on building careers and driving artist awareness internationally, and I look forward to helping provide The Orchard’s artists and labels with highly effective, efficient and creative solutions for reaching fan bases worldwide.”

The Orchard’s new division is in good hands. Pithouse began with Sony Music in 2006 and over his career has played a key role in the Australian campaigns for artists including Alicia Keys, Amy Shark, Calvin Harris, Daft Punk, David Bowie, Future, George Ezra, Khalid, Mark Ronson, P!nk, RÜFÜS DU SOL, Travis Scott, Tash Sultana and many others.

The Orchard is growing its local presence too, in June The Orchard, tapped Blake Rayner as GM of the company’s Australia and New Zealand business. Rayner was formerly the Head of International and A&R at Dew Process Recordings.

Then in August, The Orchard welcomed David Hume as the Manager of the company’s Artist Services in Australia. Having previously served as the Artist Manager at Boundary Sounds for quite some time, Hume has worked with some of Australia’s most recognisable names, including Little May, Moonbase, Nicole Millar, and Clubfeet, just to name a few.
