After this week’s announcement of a partnership with Live Nation to stream a run of big name music concerts, Twitter are moving further from their 140-character beginnings with a host of other media partnerships.

The company is teaming with Vox Media, Bloomberg, BuzzFeed, MLB, Silver Chalice and others to provide streaming content on the platform.

While the Live Nation deal will focus mostly on offering up live concerts, it’s clear Twitter are hoping this will position their platform as a viable content hub across numerous fields, with Bloomberg creating a 24/7 news stream, Silver Chalice presenting college sports games, and highlight packages, and the MLB offering up a bespoke three-hour news wrap each week.

Last year Twitter struck a deal with the NFL to stream ten live Thursday Night Football games. Although they failed to renew this contract, it was clearly a successful venture the company are hoping to expand upon.
