UMA applauds ‘incredible results’ with eight titles in the ARIA top 10

First the U.S., now Universal is cleaning up on Australia’s albums chart.

The major music company snags 8 of the Top 10 albums on the current ARIA Albums Chart, led by Metallica’s new compilation S&M2 (via Virgin/UMA) with the San Francisco Symphony at No. 1 and U.S. pop giant Katy Perry’s Smile (Capitol/EMI) at No. 2.

For the week commencing 7th September, Universal Music Australia locks down positions No. 3 (Taylor Swift’s Folklore, via Republic/Universal); No. 4 (Juice WRLD’s Legends Never Die, Interscope/Universal); No. 5 (Pop Smoke’s Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon, Universal/UMA); No. 7 (Billie Eilish’s When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, Columbia/Sony); while Melbourne punk outfit Private Function enters at No. 9 with Who’s Line is it Anyway? (Caroline/Universal) and veteran bluesman Diesel completes the Top Ten with Sunset Suburbia (Bloodlines/UMA).

The only thing standing in the way of a UMA clean sweep is Harry Styles’ former chart leader Fine Line (Columbia/Sony) at No. 6; and Rome (Wonderlick/Sony) from Josh Pyke, new at No. 7.



Elsewhere across ARIA’s suite of charts, UMA labels scoop nine of the Top 10 slots on the Classical/Crossover Albums Chart, led by composer, songwriter and producer Stephan Moccio’s Moccio: Peaceful Piano Nocturnes (Decca Records), the new No. 1.

Universal Music Australia & NZ President George Ash paid tribute to the company’s hard-working staff and roster.

“We are privileged to work with all our incredible artists and label partners here in Australia and around the world,” Ash comments in a statement to TIO.

“The dynamic team at UMA continue to lead with creativity and innovation in delivering incredible results for our artists and partners. Congratulations all round on the continued chart achievements.”

UMA’s domination of the Australian chart following a nine-out-of-ten effort by Universal on the Billboard 200, an equal best result in the chart’s 64-year history.
