With Father’s Day coming up on Sunday September 1, it’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate a few music industry dads who are managing work and family life in a sector battling an ‘always-on’ mentality.

In the short Q&As below, we chat dad life with Regan Lethbridge, of Lemon Tree Music (Tones and I, Tash Sultana) and Lonely Lands Agency, as well as Roy Amar, Founder and Director of artist management company Bear Parts Music (Circles, CREO).

How many kids do you have?

I have a baby girl Willow, she is almost two years old.

What’s been the most challenging thing about being a dad in the music industry?

The travel I guess. You want to be everywhere with your clients and working 24/7. Having a baby very quickly makes you realise it’s not about you anymore and all about them in the best possible way. You whole life changes and for the better.

Do your kids love your job?

Willow loves music and has come to a bunch of festivals with my wife and I. She’s an epic dancer. I’m teaching her the moonwalk as we speak.

How are you at managing family + work life?

It’s a constant juggle, wouldn’t have it any other way or change a thing though. I’m blessed to have a baby and also to have career in music working with incredible artists and people around the world.

What is your advice to anyone in the music industry who is about to have kids?

Just enjoy every minute you have as they grow up fast.

How many kids do you have?

Lior is three-and-a-half years old. The second one is on the way!

What’s been the most challenging thing about being a dad in the music industry?

Definitely missing him so much when I’m away on tours, weekends away and festivals. The second is when I hear his voice over the phone; it’s just a killer.

Do your kids love your job?

At this stage my son is a bit too young to understand what I do. However, every time I leave the house he gets upset when you mention ‘Dadda has to go to work’.

I try to include family whenever I can and last weekend I took him to Max Watts for soundcheck – he complained that it was too loud!

How are you at managing family + work life?

You just do it; my wife is a godsend and the support she provides is just incredible. I couldn’t do it without her.

We have an EPIC Google family calendar with all of our meetings, tours, festivals, kids’ birthday parties, social engagements, bills and deadlines – ha!

What is your advice to anyone in the music industry who is about to have kids?

Catch up on as much sleep as you can! Enjoy taking your partner to as many gigs as possible… babysitters aren’t cheap.

When things are hard, look at the half full cup, when they wake you up at night and they go back to sleep and you can’t it’s a great time to email overseas. You get a response straight away!
